Curriculum Overview

At King’s we place a strong emphasis on subject-specialist teaching, with specialist teachers from Pre-Prep right the way through to Year 7, with Years 5 to 7 receiving 100% specialist teaching for each subject. Our knowledge-based approach helps children gain a greater depth of understanding for each subject with teachers who bring a vast amount of enthusiasm and passion to their classrooms. Our aim is to ignite a lifelong passion for learning and nurture students’ academic and personal growth, in preparation for a seamless transition to higher education. Thanks to our split subject teaching, King’s students can choose to go to secondary school at age 11 or 13.

Enrichment at King's

Enrichment is woven into the curriculum as an integral part of the school day. A King’s education ensures students are not only nurtured to achieve beyond their perceived academic boundaries but also discover their passion and talents beyond typical classroom activities.

Enrichment activities do just that, they enrich the curriculum to give students supplementary opportunities to learn. They typically include:

  • structured, hands-on activities
  • activities that enrich understanding and personal development
  • activities to develop soft skills and qualities such as teamwork, independence, initiative and responsibility
  • learning by doing

We aim for King’s students to be capable, confident, happy and responsible global citizens.

  • Pre-School and Reception: This is a hugely important stage for your child’s learning, and it’s a really fun one too! At this stage we teach mainly learning through play-based activities where your children will be learning about routine and developing early literacy and maths skills, learning about the world around them and learning social skills. Our early learning environment is full of exciting opportunities for our children to explored learn in an inspiring, comfortable and stimulating environment – specifically designed to help develop student’s high order thinking skills on a daily basis.
  • Years 1 and 2: The fun continues in Years 1 and 2, where children are taught within their mixed-ability classes. Their class teacher teaches them for the majority of their subjects but specialist teachers are slowly introduced to deliver Arabic, Islamic Studies, Music, PE and Swimming.
