Music is part of the fabric that makes up a King’s College education and, at King’s Doha, we have broad opportunities for musicians of all types. Our main aim is that everyone who wants to be involved can be accommodated.
Music is a powerful and unique form of communication that can change the way pupils feel, think and act. The King’s music programme offers opportunities for all pupils to develop their musical abilities. The curriculum focuses on performance, composition and listening skills, and is geared towards improving confidence, skills and creativity. It brings together intellect and feelings and enables personal expression, reflection and emotional development.
Many opportunities exist for talented musicians at King’s, ranging from our broad instrumental programme to opportunities for solo and group performances in our musical productions and concerts. The King’s College Choir is particularly well-regarded in Qatar and has won awards for its excellence, including the Qatar Primary School Choir of the Year.
Our King’s music scholars lead by example and flourish within an enthusiastic and committed environment, supported by experienced and highly qualified teaching staff (including a professional opera singer) and a team of dedicated peripatetic teachers. Tuition is available in a wide range of instruments, from the violin and trumpet to the electric guitar.
All pupils are involved in some way, whether it is singing nursery rhymes in Pre-School, participating in Inter-House music competitions, performing at our acclaimed Winter Concerts or through individual music interest.
