Award Winning Design

King’s College Doha has been designed by award-winning school architects and when complete will house some of the finest early years and primary school facilities in Qatar. The layout of our school creates an innovative and contemporary space, which focuses on harnessing and promoting interaction between all users and visitors to the school.

Grassed Play Areas

The Early Years Foundation Stage is a fun and stimulating learning environment which occupies one whole corner of the site. Our youngest learners have their own secure entrance and play areas, inside and out, each with their own door to the garden. All children have beautiful grassed play areas to play.

At King’s College Doha the library is very much at the heart of the school, in every way. The Kings Library is run by Mrs Shah, a qualified English teacher who manages and supports the childrens learning journeys, helping to guide them through the thousands of books we have available.  We stock a huge collection of guided and home reading books from The Oxford Reading Tree, which are specifically designed to help children become confident readers. These reading schemes support children from their first phonics steps right the way up to independent reading for pleasure in Year 6

Independent readers are encouraged to choose the books they will love and develop a passion for reading that lasts a lifetime. We have a wealth of fiction to discover for all ages and, along with the outstanding non-fiction collection, supports all areas of the curriculum. So, if you’re a Dorothy, a Heathcliff, a Matilda or an Einstein, there’s something for everyone.

Swimming Pool

We are lucky to have a heated 25m outdoor pool with sail covers, providing shade. All our children have access to the pool through structured swimming lessons throughout the year. We have a very talented Swim Squad who use the pool for their training and other specialists hire our pool for their training programmes.

Swimming is an important part of our sports and enrichment programme; it stimulates young children’s senses and is thought to improve brain and emotional development. Swimming also supports a child’s mind/body connection as studies have shown that during exercise a child’s mind is stimulated, promoting further brain development.

Sports Hall

Our high sporting attainment is attributed to our exceptional sports coaches and first-class facilities. Developments in technology have helped to bring on a wide spectrum of sports surfaces and we have been fortunate to start from scratch with a custom tailored hall to fit our specific requirements.

3G AstroTurf

We have a full-size 3G AstroTurf pitch, which is used every day for sports training, PE sessions and co-curricular activities. We have some very keen footballers at King’s –  including the girls – who this year secured a Gold medal in the QPPSSA girls football tournament 2018/19 at Aspire Academy!

Tennis and Basketball Courts

We have full-sized, covered basketball and tennis courts. Captured here on a rather rare wet day here in Doha!

Science Lab

We have a dedicated Science lab for Years 3 to 7 with 100% specialist Science teaching from Year 5.  Science activities for this age group help lay the groundwork for student understanding in the subject and ignite their passion for inquiry through hands-on lab experiments. We believe hands-on investigation through laboratory experimentation is the best way to introduce students to scientific inquiry, the process of asking questions and conducting experiments as a way to understand the natural world, which is the foundation of science education.
